    He gives you plenty of linear algebra but mostly focuses on group theory and beyond. The book is very accessible early on - personally, it helped me to be able to read other algebra books, like Hungerford. If nothing else, chapters 2 and 6 on group theory are worth a quick read, especially if you're just getting started with abstract algebra. The book contains a multitude of exercises which are mostly fairly straight forward, and if I had to criticise the book it would be for the lack of stretching exercises, but this is a very minor criticism; there are many other books which can stretch a keen student of group by: Group theory and the many-body problem.
